Cosmetic Correction & WBPP

Hi All,

I just bought the Fundamentals videos a few days ago and slowly working through the content and i've just finished the section on Cosmetic correction and have question about master darks that i didn't see covered.

When using cosmetic correction is the Master Dark automatically scaled or do your darks sub lengths need to match the lights ?

Also - Is there as section on WBPP as i can only see BPP

Cheers,
Richard.

  • Hi Richard,

I am working towards making WBPP right now. It is somewhat complex to cover so many different permutations- so I need to make a clear lesson on this. In addition is it necessary to first do the lesson on SFS- since WBPP uses the information that SFS generates to calculate the weights of images. That is why this is taking me some time!

Concerning Cosmetic Correction... this happens on calibrated data after the biases, darks, and flats have been applied. So Cosmetic Correction is independent and follows the calibration steps. There is one effect though- if you are scaling darks- you will tend to have *more* hot pixels in your images to be taken care of my Cosmetic Correction. Matching darks is best if you can...
