Repository issue?

Multi scale gradient correction does not appear in my process list. I'm running version 1.8.9.3 RIPLEY. No updates available. I've reset the repositories and they reloaded without issue. I have gradient correction but not multi scale.

Correct. MultiscaleGradient and a good many other things became available with 1.9 which is a pretty big jump. I suggest updating to the latest version of the software. It is stable from my perspective.
