bfke edit multiple keywords to solve Origin's terrible fits headers

I recently purchased a Celestron Origin and am looking forward to the promised upgrades to make it a decent telescope. 

Right now, without tracking, limited to 20 minute captures with images every 15 seconds. 

My biggest disappointment was the almost nonexistent/terrible quality fits headers. 

In a night's observing you end up with 10-20 captures of different objects. While I slept I wanted to do initial WBPP processing on the entire nights images. I tried a technique you suggested grouping by OBJECT keyword, no OBJECT Keyword. 

Actually no OBJECT, RT Ascension, Declination, Focal Length, Bayer/Mosaic Pattern, Pixel Size, ....  Oh and image type to sort darks and lights etc.

I find it irritating that a "Smart" telescope doesn't bother to fill data into the fits header they clearly have. When the data is there Pixinsight makes good choices but with no data much manual intervention is required, They assume that folks that want automation will be satisfied with the AI generated bland images the scope produces. For $4K that is far from my expectations.

I upgraded to the beta, only marginally better.

I found your video about Mike Cranflield's work on bfke. Instead of updating one keyword I need to update a bunch, hope not to beat SSD to death with many writes. Maybe a list like the file list. Once the keywords were corrected then you could batch process by object. I couldn't find Mike's contact info so maybe you could pass my question on.

Headed to NEAF in a week to share my viewpoint with Celestron about their "Stupid" telescope. Actually, I like the telescope it is lazy programming that is the problem.

  • I guess the issue is these telescopes are designed to be antithetical to formal image processing. 
    In this case if this telescope is says: "Understanding that image processing is half the battle in astrophotography, Celestron utilizes AI image editing to bring out hidden details...."

    As I see it, you are supposed to enjoy the DIQ (delivered image quality) as it presents it to you- and not swim upstream against its designed purpose. 

    I could be wrong..but this is my sense of this matter.
