CCD Stack - Repair Bad Columns

My QSI mono Kodak 638 imager was in need of repair.  Shipped it to ATIK's Portugal Repair center.  Good news: repair was effected properly.  Bad news: a bad column at column location 685 mysteriously appeared - of course ATIK disclaimed any responsibility.  Got on to Adam's CCD Stack thumbdrive tutorials.  Used the arduous free hand tool to highlight all 2500 pixels in the bad column.  Loaded the luminance subs - pressed the magic button and viola - no bad column.  I thought I could save this pixel map but could not find any means to do so.  It remains resident on the program in the repair window but if I need to perform some other function in the meantime, will it go away into the ether when I next shoot using the QSI 683 imager and process my new series of images?

  • Hmm... as I recall you do not need to free hand anything.
It is possible in CCDStack to mathematically specify a column. There is a bit of code for this.
You reviewed this video around the 11minute mark??

It sure sounds like you made it more difficult than necessary.

  • I did make it more difficult because I'm not as comfortable writing code.  Key issue in my question though is
  • I think the only way to make it "resisdent" is with the little code trick. It is simple...just a couple of statements...exactly like what I show in the recording.
