Image Integration question

Hello,

I'm processing a very large data set of images (1,568 frames, 10 sec exposure) in WBPP.  I did not enable the automatic integration mode on the lights tab because I wasn't clear what steps would not be completed in WBPP if I did that.  I'm under the impression WBPP doesn't do Local Normalization if the automatic integration mode box is checked.

WBPP made it through all the steps up to the point of integration in what I thought was a reasonable time frame given the number of subs to be processed.  However, the integration process has been running for over 22 hours now and I'm wondering if I need to stop the process and try to manually integrate the frames.

Attached is the most recent copy of my log file and there's nothing in it past the end of local normalization.  I don't see anything to suggest it any step has failed.  I have also included a snapshot of my PI screen showing the process console, the WBPP execution monitor, and the Windows task manager.  I have been tracking the percentage in the processing console screen and it's moving slowly.  It was at 20% 12 hours ago and is now at 56%.  All that being said, I think it's still working on the R channel.  I've never worked with a data set this large so I'm looking for any guidance on if I should stop this process and take a different approach, tough it out,... or something else.  Thanks in advance.

James

  • Yeah... you really need to use FastIntegration for a data set like this. You need to allow PixInsight to operate on this set in batches so it doesn't do everything in memory. I do have a video on the basic usage of FastIntegration.

  • Hi Adam, thanks for confirming that I will need to halt the process.  I’ve watched the two videos on Fast Integration and, given that I’ve already generated registered images, is it possible to load those images and skip the registration step in Fast Integration?  If so, do you know what the settings are that I should change?

  • Hmm.... I don't. I do not think it is built for this. However... even if you fed it your registered images- I doubt the penalty of "double registration" will be very high. It will ZIP right through the registration part because it is optimized to just do a simple offset if it is very close. So...I would just feed it those. Just FYI... you for the future you can enable all of this automatically with WBPP next time you run at big set of course.
