Your *best* processing in narrowband

edited November 2024 in PixInsight
As a treat for those of us who have spent many, many tens of hours going through your wonderful videos showing we intermediate level blockheads the intricacies of all the basic processes, could you point us to a video in which you demonstrate your *best* processing of a fairly common object in narrowband that we've all seen, maybe one for which you received an award, or other kudos, showing every step?  After learning to drive a nice Chevy fairly proficiently, it would be cool to see how you drive a Ferrari. If only for motivational purposes to keep us going.

Thanks!

Well... such an image does not exist in terms of awards or recognition.
Narrowband imagery is the purview of astrophotographers with their own equipment because of the time it takes to get enough exposures/data.I have never owned my own telescope and so could not do narrowband imagery (because again, due to time it takes to collect enough information).

In NB FastTrack you can see my approach and judge for yourself as to the worthiness of the instruction and results. All of the NB data I have worked with has been generously supplied by others. I do use principles of processing to handle the data and come up with innovative approaches. However, and this was always a concern for me, I am actually not an "expert" NB imagery per se. People really wanted me to make videos...so I did! It is my hope that that this was desired because I can explain many elements of subject.

P.S. I am working on changing this by sending a telescope to Chile...that actually will be my own and I can get my own NB images. :) If you feel like supporting this effort...so I can finally have my own telescope... let me know.

I'm happy to help support your NB adventures with the $300 I have spent so far on your Fundamentals and Horizons courseware! You don't have a telescope...are you kidding me???

Unless I travel in my RV, I can generally only do NB in my northwest Phoenix area, so that is my main focus. I generally get between 8 and 30+ hours on each narrowband channel. The output from WBPP is normally very pristine and silky, with little to no gradients. I would love to share it with you for future processing videos! Let me know! With a Tucson backyard setup, it takes almost ZERO effort to collect data all night while you sleep. NINA and automated setups are king!

Here is what I have done so far with your narrowband techniques. Let me know if these are an acceptable application of your courseware. I would love to see how much more you could squeeze out of my data.

    Cheers.
