Halo around bright stars

Hi Adam,
What is the most effective technique of yours to eliminate the halo around the bright star 52 Cygni in my attachment?
It is most prominent on the Ha subs, but is also seen on the OIII.
Thanks, Mark

Mark,
You did not explicitly say your complete data set. I infer you just have Ha and OIII... but given more:
1. RGB stars to replace NB stars. Best.
2. Remove Halo from starless image if mostly found there and reassemble. Since embedded in nebulosity not a great method here.
3. Use Fabian Neyer method to iteratively subtract halo (hard)
Sometimes artifacts from instruments have no good solutions.

Hi Adam,
I did fail to mention that I do have RGB stars.
I had tried earlier to alter a starless Ha image created from Russ's StarXTerminator - but as you mentioned, with the nebula tendrils passing thru the star, the modification leaves a hole behind.
Thanks for your suggestions.
