C/2023 A3 - NSG and starless images

Hi Adam,

In your 'DSLR Part 3 : Creating the Comet Aligned Starless Stacked Master' you use the previously created NSG normalization files.  I don't have currently NSGXnml.  In order to use NSG with starless images, am I correct in thinking I need the NSGXnml process?

Thanks

Xavier

  • Yeah...I think that is correct. You are right.
I think it might be around $25.
It really is the right tool.
However, you can do something similar with the native PI LN... it will just be more difficult to make work and in this particular usage less accurate.

I do recommend having NSG (in its full capabilities) as part of the range of tools you have at your fingertips.

  • Thanks.  I've been very pleased with the free version, and the additional capabilities look really good, especially at the low cost.

Another benefit of normalization files rather than normalized image files is the amount of disk space saved.

    Thanks!
