Ha LRGB Combination

edited October 2024 in PixInsight
I have PixInsight Fundamentals. I’m learning a lot from it. I’m at a point where I have a processed RGB image that I’m happy with, as well as a non-linear Ha integration. It’s time to blend them to add the Ha to the LRGB. Is there a video in Fundamentals that covers that?

I’m quite pleased that there are so many videos available that I can’t figure out what to watch next.

However, I do have enough demonstrations on ImageBlend you can work out how this is done quickly.
The naive way to proceed is to take your Ha information, color it red and blend it into the LRGB image with screen. BUT this is crude. You really want to have continuum subtracted if this is a galaxy. If it is a nebula... then the crude method is actually pretty good (assuming a starless Ha).
