NB Fastrack - Wizard Demo - Missing steps?

I'm going through the Wizard videos and at the end of "NB Workflow 3: NXT, ImageBlend, Selective Color and Final Adjustments" the image is the first image attachment.

But at the beginning of the next video "Inserting RGB Stars into Narrowband Images" the image begins like the second image attachment.

The second image looks much nicer.   (The first image is purplish on the lower left and brownish red in the upper right and has much less contrast in the center than the second image).

I'd really like to know how you went from the first image to second image because that kind of change is the difference between an amateur image (like what I can produce) and a professional image (like Adam produces).

Without these steps I can't actually follow along and get the same image Adam creates.

Is there a video about that somewhere?

  • Yes there is....
You will need to watch the "Ooops" section for an explanation.
The second image you like... I kinda like to... but it is not "standard" and so I cannot spell it out as a normal workflow.

However, with regards to the instructions on Inserting Stars... it doesn't matter what the image looks like- the instruction is about the stars. I did not re-record the section based on that justification... but I guess I could if it is too odd.

  • By the way... the brownish red is actually a better color rendition. The Ha actually fills this field... my Oops version, for reasons I explain, loses color.

  • Adam,

Is it possible for me to see the old/original video where you processed your "oops" result into that nice image?

I understand it's not part of the canonical workflow, but I'd still like to see how you went from the washed out result after the second application of Narrowband Normalization to the pretty picture you start "Inserting RGB Stars into Narrowband Images" with.

    Thanks.
