  • LOL... well, I believe you...but I cannot see it easily.
    1. What method did you use to construct it?
    2. If you used PhotometricMosaic, there are several ways to improve the result.

  • Hi Blockhead
i did zoom in a long way to see the horizontal aberration
yes I initially used mosaic by coordinates then Photometric Mosaic
4 images to 2 then final combination
I combined the upper 2 images first and then the lower
It seems to me the final process has has the error
I know its not bad but you probably know all you can see in your own images is the errors

You need to show me a screen shot of the issue (point at it..circle it..).
If it is a black line- it means you need to trim the images more.
    You trimmed?

If the issue is a discontinuity (meaning the star shapes and stuff show the seam)- then this is a blending overlap issue.

Have you gone through my course on Mosaics and Photometric Mosaic?

  • yes I trimmed
and have gone thru the courses
I have attached a screenshot - hopefully you can see the issue

  • Yes, the issue is the blending method. What method did you use?
    Overlay? Average?

  • To be honest I didn't track what I have used as I was experimenting with the mosaic method
this was my first real attempt
I think i used overlay blending from memory but regardless I believe you have assisted me in where I will look if/when I reprocess the images

  • Yes, overlay is the "basic" method- but unless the frames are precisely matching each other, you will see a difference in a number of ways. You need to slowly go from one frame to the other in the overlap region with the appropriate blending method.

  • Did you ever find a solution?  I have exactly the same problem on a 2x2 mosaic.  I joined the top two panels, then the bottom two, finally joined the top to the bottom.

There is a “shadow” across the top to bottom join, but none vertically,  It matches exactly to the mask generated in PMM, but I don’t see how to use the mask to get rid of it.

I’m not seeing any other parameters that might change this other than Combination Mode, but that doesn’t change the outcome.
  • Charles,

An image would help. If the issue is exactly what Bigsos showed, then it is because he used overlay which does not have a gradient of change from one edge to the other using the overlap reason.

Your issue sounds different. A screenshot would be useful here.
Did you go through my course on PMM?
