Super Luminance Creation

Hello Adam,

I was very puzzled with the method you use to create the superluminance in your recent M83 video, where you directly integrate all the subframes - in NGC 2835 tutorial, back in 2020, you specifically mentioned that way doesn't work, as RGB gets rejected. Truth to be told, that doesn't happen in the M83 but why? Is it related to the weighting method (I believe PSFSignalWeight didn't exist in 2020)? Does LocalNormalization also help in that regard?

In any case, in image with significant gradients, especially if different according to each filters, shouldn't the masters be integrated (after gradients removal), instead of integrating the subframes?

Thanks,
André

  • Yes, the past me was/is probably correct and I will need to edit that.

But... the current me thinks that the normalized subframes (in any particular color) are no different than the final stacked version of the master frame. Yes, the weighting should work out...
    I don't know! lol
I did ask Juan...but who knows if I will ever get a response.
