DBE

Hi Adam,
I've been a user of PixInsight for many year (since the beginning) and have really enjoyed your lessons in both Fundamentals and Horizons.  You have given me a whole new perspective on how to use many of the different processes.  Thanks for the great lessons on the "Adam Block" way of doing things..

Concerning DBE, I notice you tend to create a RGB image first, then run DBE on the combined RGB.  I have always just created my samples on one image, say the luminance or Ha and then created a process and applied it to each stacked master.  Is there a reason, other than it works on a color image, that you do DBE on just the combined RGB image?  Maybe to save time?  Trying to delve a little deeper into your thought process, :)

Thanks again for such a great tutorial series...

  • DBE works on a per channel basis. So there should not be a difference between me creating a set of samples (with of all of the parameters initially set the same) and applying this to each grayscale (stacked) image compared with applying to the color image itself. The nice thing about the color image is that I can see the relationship between the color errors (Usually flat errors) I am trying to correct. If you are only looking at the individual stacked grayscale images you will not easily be able to see this. And certainly yes... it is a time saver.

If there is a need to have a *different* set of samples with different parameters on each channel... then doing things separately makes sense. I can certainly see this being true for Ha data compared with RGB data.

I still have more to upload in both collections... there should be more stuff coming soon.
