Does This Image Look Normal?

Hi Adam,

I went out and tried to image the Banana Nebula last night, but I only managed to get one frame as I spent nearly an hour and a half to try and achieve focus manually, but as I just started my imaging session, clouds rolled in. I used my Optolong L-Ultimate as the Moon is starting to get brighter, but I don't think my image is in focus as the stars appear to be slightly bloated and there is a lot of red chromatic aberrations around them.

I did recently received my replacement objective lens for my Radian 61, which I have installed. Sharpstar said the replacement lens is a doublet, but the original lens was a triplet. I got one as I was suffering from a lot of chromatic aberration issues. I am not sure if this new lens is causing the image to be of lower quality or not.

Attached is the calibrated debayered file.

  • Hmm... I am not an expert in this area. I really can't say. Sorry.
The stars with the red odd halo doesn't seem right to me though.

  • All good Adam! Thought I'd ask anyway.

I checked out some before and after images online and from what I see, it is normal for my Radian 61 to display the stars like this, but I still think it is out of focus slightly.

I will try and shoot the Banana Nebula again with my Askar 65PHQ once I finish my current project on a portion of the Vela Supernova Remnant.

    Zak :)
