WBPP error message

Hello!!

A couple of weeks ago I shot two different objects testing my mount.

The first object was M51, and the second was the Rosette Nebula, I followed the WBPP videos, the Rosette process was successful.

The M51 with the same Darks, FlatDarks, and Lights produced an error I just can´t understand,

when processing the Lights the message appeared,  Error: failed to measure and all the processes crashed,

The settings were the same and I am using NINA.

Why one object is Ok and the other has this problem, can yu help me?

Thanks so much for your help

Greetings from Monterrey, Mexico

  • HI Jose,

It is hard to day without a detailed analysis.
However, I think I can say something quite strong...

    Either:
    1. The Rosette nebula was "successful" but not actually optimal (or correct). This is an important lesson to learn in image processing. Just because a software or process completes without an error.. DOES NOT MEAN it is correct.
    2. This is something wrong with the calibration or M51 data. You say there isn't an it is identical... but there are obviously problems as well.

I recently helped a person with precisely this issue..and beforehand they swear to me everything is the same...but then it turns out they were mixing different gain settings between there lights and dark frames. So... they "lied" to me. LOL.

When you have a question like this... what you need to do with screen captures and prove everything you said. The settings were correct. The images (for the Rosette) were calibrated correctly...etc etc. You have to prove everything is correct... then that will leave what difference is between the Rosette and the M51 data.
