I have been following along with Fasttrack, video by video. I've gotten to the Star Alignment videos and ran into another snag.
While I'm running these processes I've also been testing my computer. I tried to align all 480 debayered light frames. My PC choked. It crashed, and crashed every time I tried to start it for a day or so. Finally after a restore it works again. 480 is too many CFA frames to align all at once. Point taken.
So I started aligning again in smaller batches. While preparing the second batch I considered the reference frame. You made a point in your video that the reference frame is included in the Target Images Section. I wondered how to go about this with several batches of light frames. I decided that the reference frame should be included in the Target Frames for the first batch but not subsequent batches. My belief is that this would result in all of the light subs being aligned to the same reference frame, but the reference frame would not end up as a duplicate in the resulting Aligned folder of subs.
The primary reason that I've chosen your studio as the one I want to study PixInsight with is the way you teach not only the how to, but the thought behind it. That's the way I need to learn.
So please, critique my thinking with regard to aligning in batches.
Thank you, Mike
