Image Blend methodologies

I just watched the ImageBlend Script: First Look in Fundamentals.
Two questions occurred to me.
The first being is this an enhanced standalone version of the capabilities demonstrated in Blending H-alpha using NB ColourMapper tutorial ?
(In other words are the algorithms the same)
Also does the new ImageBlend Script replace or compliment the NB ColorMapper Script for blending narrowband with RGB/LRGB ?

Comments

  • NB ColorMapper (behind the scenes) uses screen blending to make the color images. In that sense, there is a similarity. But I think that is it. ImageBlend it a more general tool that offers the complete standard set of blending operations with the ability to adjust the stretch in real time. This is important because many blending operations are conditional on the brightness of the pixels in either the base, blend or both images.

I guess to fully answer your question...I need to make more videos that utilize ImageBlend. It was just released...so it will take some time to demonstrate my particular methods. As you saw, the highpass filter with Overlay technique is a solid example of what you can do with ImageBlend.
