Triad Ultra Quad NB Filter processing

After spending lots of time searching, I still can't find a tutorial or any instructions on how to process images taken with the Triad Ultra Quad NB filter in PixInsight. Anyone out there to help me? Perhaps Adam thinks it's time to dedicate some time to such tutorial.
I'm stuck for example in SPCC, where in Narrow Band Filters mode, I'm only able to detail 3 of the 4 bands. I learned from another forum that this is the wrong way to think about this but I don't really get how to think about this instead.

  • Hi Hans,

Setting aside the Trian Ultra Quad...etc

    This video is in Horizons:
(I cannot put everything in Fundamentals...NB is a specialization of image processing)

In it I explain that SPCC is not necessary or desired for the way that most people are processing NB images. I of course explain why. I agree that your line of thinking is probably not helpful.

Concerning the using of NB filters in front of OSC sensors... I think this is doing more harm than good in terms of image processing complexity. It is a real challenge to make sensible images from double filtered data. At the moment this is true for me. I was going to attempt a project to dive into this...but there appear to be other much easier low hanging fruit. If I was pursuing this...I would put NB filters in front of a monochrome camera and ditch the OSC.

  • Thanks, I understand.
As we now have the first clear night in for over 6 weeks in Sydney, I'll have to wait a bit to purchase any more subscriptions ;o)
