Graxpert

There seems to be a lot of buzz about this new tool.  So I thought I would give it a try, especially since there is now a PI script.

It seemed to work very well on NGC 3486, a small compact galaxy.  However, I process most of my data from Telescope Live.  (I am over 80 years old and staying out all night is not really an option.)  Most Telescope Live data is from Nebulae.  Graxpert seems to eat the fine wisps of nebula, leaving a poor result.  Clearly DBE is my tool of choice here.

It seems like this tool as a script works more are less like ABE.  I assume that it is better, since it bandies about the AI word.

  • Well..the tool actually works like DBE but with AI placing the samples.
As the AI gets better...it will indeed be a more generalized tool. This is my understanding anyway.
I agree that for fields filled with nebulosity- it does not always give an optimal result.
