PixelMath versus Blend script

Adam,
Your earlier videos showed your use of the blend script.  Your later videos have you using PixelMath.  I looked for a video where perhaps you explained your reasoning for changing methods.  Could you explain your reasoning or point to a video where you did?
Thanks,
Jeff

  • Yes, I am happy to explain. Originally when I made the video using Hartmut Bornneman's Blend Script- the screening function (combine(image1,image2,op_screen()) did not exist yet. That came later. Using the raw math expression for screen would have been seen as overly technical at that time. So in 2018-2020 I used the Blend Script.

Later the generator functions became available in Pixel Math...so I used them.
However... I preferred using a script.

So you know what I did? About a month ago I asked Mike Cranfield to make a script for me that would be a more generalized blending tool. It is called ImageBlend. It is still in its beta form... and I demonstrate its usage in my latest comet video in Horizons. It should become available soon (as soon as I persuade Mike his awesome work is just fine and ready to go!).

  • Oh wow.    Can't wait for this.    If it's as solid as Mike's other tools it's going to be a winner.   An interactive interface when doing blending would be so helpful.
